Use UKVIN as decision support — not a guarantee.

UKVIN combines available vehicle information with buyer guidance and derived intelligence. A vehicle check cannot replace inspecting the vehicle, verifying its identity and documents, or obtaining professional advice where needed.

Information and availability

Vehicle information can be incomplete, delayed or unavailable. Missing information must not be treated as proof that a vehicle is clear of finance, theft, damage, mileage, identity or mechanical concerns.

Buyer responsibility

You remain responsible for deciding whether to view, purchase, sell or use a vehicle. Safety-critical or inaccessible areas should be assessed by a competent professional.

Estimates and derived intelligence

Valuations, likely costs, model intelligence, comparisons and risk indicators are estimates or derived decision aids unless expressly identified as verified source data. MOT cohort statistics describe recorded observations in defined datasets and do not prove that an individual vehicle has or will develop a particular fault.

UKVIN intellectual property and database rights

Except for underlying third-party or public-sector source material identified as such, the UKVIN website, software, presentation, data models, normalisation rules, cohort definitions, classifications, scoring methods, derived datasets, reports, graphics, written content and selection or arrangement of information are owned by or licensed to UKVIN and are protected to the extent provided by applicable intellectual-property, database and contractual rights.

Automated extraction and competitive use

You must not use bots, crawlers, scripts, headless browsers, scraping tools or other automated means to systematically extract, harvest, enumerate, copy or reconstruct UKVIN reports, derived intelligence, model-level statistics or databases except where UKVIN has given prior written permission or where applicable law gives you a right that cannot lawfully be restricted.

You must not use UKVIN outputs to build, train, benchmark, populate or materially improve a competing vehicle-history, vehicle-intelligence, data-broker, AI or analytics product without prior written permission. Normal personal use of a report for deciding whether to buy, sell or inspect a vehicle is permitted.

No restriction on independently sourced public data

These terms do not claim ownership of underlying public-sector information such as DVSA data. They do not prevent anyone from obtaining such source data independently from the relevant public authority and carrying out their own lawful analysis. The restrictions above apply to access to and extraction of UKVIN's own service, derived outputs and proprietary processing.

API and access controls

Attempting to bypass rate limits, access controls, authentication, technical restrictions or anti-automation measures is prohibited. UKVIN may throttle, block or suspend access where activity reasonably appears to involve abuse, bulk extraction, security testing without permission or service disruption.

Accounts and saved evidence

Keep account credentials secure and only upload information you are entitled to use. Saved evidence should not be treated as independently verified unless UKVIN identifies the underlying source as verified.

Production terms

Paid-check pricing, supplier guarantees, cancellation and refund rights, contracting business details and any additional commercial terms must be shown at purchase before paid services are enabled.

Enforcement and reporting

UKVIN may preserve technical logs and other evidence reasonably necessary to investigate abuse, protect the service, enforce these terms or comply with legal obligations. These interim terms should be read with the Privacy Notice and will be reviewed before paid commercial services are enabled.
